I absolutely love Broadgate school! I have two children at the school one in Reception and the other in year 2. Prior to school both my children had never been to nursery so I was sure that they would find leaving me hard when they started school, which they did but the way the school and staff helped them through those difficult few weeks was amazing. My daughter was so shy and wouldn't really talk to the adults or in large groups of friends at the start of school but now she is asking to read parts in the special assemblies they have! Both my kids have made great connections with staff and made great friends. Their academic progress is also something we are very happy with but to us the emotional side of things was even more important and their emotional wellbeing is always addressed and the staff have great awareness of how the children are feeling and how settled they are. There is bullying in every school and on the rare occasions that this has happened it has been taken seriously and dealt with quickly and effectively. The school has a great sense of community and the staff really care about you and your children. No matter how small a problem is the staff are always there to listen and to help. My children are happy and they feel safe and secure at Broadgate. When children are happy and settled their learning excels, to me the work staff do to enable children to feel this way is a great foundation for their lifelong learning.

This is a fantastic school. Brilliant, caring teachers, a lovely and very effective Head and great pastoral care. The children are all very polite and its rare to see any bad behaviour. its obvious that theyre very caring and concerned about one another, reflecting the ethos of the school as a whole. Theres a lovely community feel at Broadgate and in the four years my children have attended the school I cant really fault them.

Im in yr6 and I think this school is great but the playground is really boring

My son has been here less than 4 months and this school has been nothing but trouble and heartache. The positive. The building itself is lovely, the classrooms are clean and cute with lots of stuff for the kids. Every class room has its own little space so children of different ages are seperate. They also have lotsof events for the kids and bake sales and the pay as u feel stall is brilliant. Gymnastics, karate and other classes are hosted on the property but aren't offered by the school themselves. The are always pushing fresh fruit down the kids which is lovely. Now the negative. The play ground for the kids is all cement and one tiny little climbing frame. So the kids daily activity is literally just running around. Which is pretty stupid considering they have a lovely grassy area at the backOf the school.. but to my knowledge it's hardly used. Here in this crappy little cement "play ground" is where all the BULLYING happens. Constant, daily, relentless, bullying. My son comes home at least twice a week with injurie forms sent home because of other children outside. He crys and crys saying the staff does nothing. The staff ignore him, punish him instead of the bully, or tell him to stop being a tattle tale. My son is not the only person this is happening to. My sons little girl friend aged 6 was hospitalized as a result of bullying that the school allowed to happen. So many things are just pushed under the rug and my son is suffering emotional damage because of it. Comes home covered in bruises and crying because nothing is ever done. I can hear the hopelessness in his voice when he talks about it.They also let the children complain about being sick and even end up vomiting without so much as a phone call to the parents. Which brings me to the next complaint. They loveee to call social services over everything. My 6 year old tells tales and the bombardment of harassment has yet to end. No proof of any wrong doing by me or my family but they still harass us. Not a mark on my son, perfect grades, constant compliments on his behavior, abundance of friends, after school Gymnastics. MY SONS GP EVEN SAID THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE, IT IS HARRASSMENT. But I'm still made to sit for over 5 hours being questioned by S.S while they rewarded my son with kisses and plastic trinkets and candy and "special Lego time" with his teacher. So now any time my son doesn't get his way.. he tells the school and they jump on the phone. While he is coddled in the backround. But if I bring up the injuries that the school allow to happen.. Oh hush hush now. They sit there and say these injuries must of happened at home when I have paperwork from the school saying it happened from bullying! He wasn't even there a week before some kids shoved him in a shed and slammed the door on his hands when he tried to get away. Ever since I've put my son in this school it's been nothing but grief. I hear complaints after complaints from other parents who are experiencing simular issues at the hands of this joke of a school. They are also forcing my son to take part in some baby Jesus play over the holidays. I told them i didnt want him in it if it was overly religious.. they assured me it wasnt. So i told him he could do it. But based on the jesus loves me songs he comes home singing.. id say its pretty religious. If I wanted religion forced down my son's throat.. I would of sent him down the road to st. Marys.I'm seriously considering pulling my son from this school because of the issues. He does have a few great friends and he obviously loves the coddling and the attention.. but I know it would break his heart.Avoid this train wreck of a school.

Great staff who really care about education
